Job Summary

The role is to primarily undertake all legal costing services for Clients including:

  • Drafting Bills of Costs
  • Drafting Costs Budgets, Budget Discussion Reports & Dealing with Budget Negotiations
  • Drafting Points of Dispute
  • Drafting Replies to Points of Dispute
  • Drafting Statements of Costs & Costs Estimates
  • Negotiating settlements on cost matters
  • Drafting Part 8 Proceedings
  • Drafting Requests for Default Costs Certificates
  • Drafting Requests for Provisional and Detailed Assessments
  • Advocacy
  • Providing advice to Clients

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Drafting of Bills of Costs – both standard and electronic format
  • Drafting Costs Budgets and Budget Discussion Reports, dealing with objections raised by opponents and advising Clients throughout the budgeting process
  • Drafting of Points of Dispute and using up to date and relevant case law
  • Drafting Replies to Points of Dispute and using up to date and relevant case law
  • Drafting Statements of Costs & Costs Estimates
  • Negotiating settlement of costs with a third party
  • Drafting the required Court documents including Part 8 Claim Forms, Requests for Default Costs Certificates & Requests for Provisional or Detailed Assessment
  • Drafting detailed advice to clients at all stages of costing
  • Utilising all software including CostsMaster to its full potential
  • Maintaining and promoting Paramount Legal Costs products, services & reputation
  • Attending internal/external training workshops, conferences and seminars
  • Answering client queries/enquiries as and when they arise

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Experience in dealing with Multi Track Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Civil & Commercial claims
  • Ambitious and self-motivated
  • Demonstrate organisation and efficiency
  • Demonstrate an ability to provide excellent client care
  • Be a team player – willing to participate and share ideas
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Have a positive and flexible approach to working under pressure and managing your own varied workload in a busy environment
