Team Uncredibles’ Epic Charity Event, by Tom Brocklebank
On Thursday May 30th at around 5pm, we completed our challenge of the Purer 3 Peaks by successfully climbing Snowdon mountain, the highest peak in Wales. For the 5 previous days 7 friends and I as Team Uncredibles, cycled circa 450 miles and also climbed the highest mountain in Engalnd, Scafell Pike, and the highest in Scotland, Ben Nevis. We were testedby the sheer physical demands of cycling and walking those distances day on day, and also the mixed weather that came our way, including ridiculous winds and rain on day 2 whist cycling 120 miles through Scotland.
We are extemely proud as it looks as though we have raised in the region of £9,000.00 between our two charities, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, and Tynedale Hospice at Home. This could not have been achieved without the huge support given by companies and individuals, whether that be with money donated, helping with kit, food supplied (we ate lots!), messages of support, cheering at the side of the road, or being there at the end of the day to say “well done” or “only 2 days to go”! A special thank you must go to Martin and Christine (Paramount Legal Costs Ltd) for being our principle sponsors and coming to support us along the way, it gave us all a huge boost, physically and psychologically!
Bring on the next one…..thanks again, Tom
